The primary function of a Hamsar Team Leader is to ensure the smooth and productive operation of the assigned manufacturing area.  The Team Leader reports to the Production Supervisor.

The following describes the functions, duties and requirements of Hamsar’s Team Leaders within their assigned manufacturing area:

  • Based on Manufacturing Schedule and Work Orders the Team Leader will ensure:
    • Daily material requirements are compiled for each daily job
    • Raw materials are picked & ready for use, prior to shift start
    • Plant supervisor, plant manager & Scheduler are informed if parts are unavailable/short
    • Ensure all product entering and leaving work area is properly labeled
    • Required documentation is completed
    • Materials are organized and placed for optimal production usage
    • Clutter is reduced
    • Team placements are done before each job to ensure they are aware of what they will be doing next
  • Plan ahead so you & the team are aware of what needs to be completed
  • Organize and plan for the next days work order(s) before day ends
  • Assign daily clean up crew
  • Ensure work area is clean & organized before/after each job throughout the shift (tables, racks..)
  • Put parts back where they belong once you and the team are done using them
  • Reports and resolves ALL scheduling conflicts with Production Supervisor & Scheduler
  • Take corrective action for manufacturing issues within your team
  • Appropriately escalate information for other manufacturing issues
  • Train all new employees on their duties, responsibilities, procedures, job safety & reports
  • Train all team members to safely operate and maintain equipment, new product training, new process training & maintain training to improve performance and efficiencies
  • Testing of staff as required and directed by the Production Supervisor
  • Daily maintenance procedures are followed for all equipment and production machines
  • All machine repair requirements are immediately reported to the Production Supervisor
  • Aid Production Supervisor in completing production staff review forms for their team
    • Identify performance improvement requirements
    • Identify potential for added assignments & responsibilities


  • Follow reporting procedures to enable a good working relationship with the Production Supervisor
  • Solicit employees for improvement, suggestions and present them to supervisor for evaluation
  • Report production or product issues to Production Supervisor, Product Managers & Production Order Supervisor as required
  • Report inventory issues to Purchasing Manager
  • Work in conjunction with Receiving and Shipping dept.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments as needed

Health and Safety and Environmental:

Observe health and safety and environmental requirements of the company while on the job at all times.  Wear protective equipment as required and report any unsafe actions to supervisor immediately. Continuously audit the work area for unsafe conditions, paying close attention to working labels, chemical handling, machine guarding and ergonomics.
